Funding for 2018 JumpStart Program Secured

Apply for the JumpStart Program for Fall 2018

Though funding was in question during the Spring semester, Kodiak College is pleased to announce that funding has been approved and the JumpStart program is available for the Fall 2018 semester! The JumpStart Program started in 2007 and has provided continuous support for 11 years to new students as they get started at Kodiak College. JumpStart is a partnership between Kodiak College and the Kodiak Island Borough and relies on their funding for the program to continue.

First-time freshman and high school juniors and seniors are eligible to apply for the JumpStart program. Students in the JumpStart program follow the JumpStart application process of taking a placement test, attending orientation, and receiving advising. Students who complete the JumpStart Application process get a tuition reduction and pay just $100 per credit for tuition (plus all course and materials fees). Some limitations apply. First-time freshman can be eligible for 6 credits (fall only) and high school juniors and seniors can be eligible for 3 credits per semester, up to 4 semesters.

Students interested in the JumpStart program should contact Student Services at (907) 486-4161 to get started. Prospective students should mark their calendars for New Student Orientation on August 22nd at 6pm. Attendance at New Student Orientation is a requirement for qualifying for JumpStart.

Student Services is open this summer and available talk with new students about getting started! In addition to JumpStart, the $40 application fee will be waived during the 2018-2019 school year in celebration of Kodiak College's 50th year. There is no time like the present to get started.
