Betty Walters to Continue as Kodiak College Director

UAA Chancellor Cathy Sandeen announced that Betty Walters, of Kodiak, will continue to serve as Interim Campus Director for the 2019-2020 academic year following a rescinded agreement with Jessica Paugh.

 A respected educator since 1964, Betty served as superintendent of the Kodiak Island Borough School District for more than a decade, as well as an adjunct instructor for UAA and Kodiak College. She has also successfully served institutions in interim roles, including interim deputy commissioner for the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development from March-November 2016, supervising that department’s activities with more than 200 staff, including K-12 oversight as well as state archives, museums and library.

Betty is an active member of the Kodiak community. She is involved with Rotary International, Special Olympics Alaska, Kodiak Arts Council, and 100+ Women Who Care.
