Emergency Closure Alerts

Kodiak makes every effort to announce a closure by 7 a.m. for classes that take place during the day and by 3 p.m. for evening classes. Inclement weather closures are most often announced to the Kodiak community via some combination of the following:

  • UA Alert system (Please visit to make sure your phone and text numbers are up to date.
  • Email from UAA to students, faculty and staff
  • The Kodiak College website
  • Kodiak College social media
  • Kodiak Nixle

Why didn't I receive a text or phone message announcing the most recent closure?

Text and phone message alerts are only delivered to all users in the event of an emergency. For non-emergency situations, such as inclement weather, the university will only send text and phone messages to users who opt-in on the UA Alert system.

To opt-in for weather alerts, log in to UA Online and go to the "Personal Information" tab. Click the button to change your phone number(s). In the dialog box that appears, check the box to accept text messages and voice calls for non-emergency use. Double-check to make sure your phone and text numbers are up to date. Save changes to finish opting in.
