SGA Opens Elections for '26-'27

Kodiak College Student Government Association Opens Elections for 2026–2027 Academic Year

Kodiak College is inviting students to step into leadership and make a meaningful impact on campus through the Student Government Association (SGA). Applications are now open for the upcoming academic year, offering students an opportunity to shape the student experience, advocate for their peers, and help lead initiatives that strengthen the Kodiak College community.

Over the past year, SGA has played a vital role in supporting students across campus. Among their accomplishments, the organization launched a Food Assistance Program to help address student food insecurity, raised funds for student scholarships, and managed an emergency grant fund to assist students facing unexpected financial challenges. In addition, SGA organized a range of engaging events, including Stress Less for Success, Midnight Madness, and the Spring Egg Hunt, designed to promote well-being, build community, and create moments of joy during the academic year. SGA has also supported the Cama’i Club and PTK it their campus activities.

Beyond programming, SGA has served as a strong advocate for student needs, working to advance initiatives that support academic success, access, and overall student wellness. These efforts reflect the organization’s commitment to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive at Kodiak College.

Now, SGA is looking for the next group of student leaders to continue this important work and bring fresh ideas to the table. Students from all backgrounds and experiences are encouraged to apply and contribute their unique perspectives.

Applications for next year’s SGA are due by April 13, with interviews scheduled for April 15 from 6:00–7:30 p.m. The newly selected SGA will hold its first meeting on April 28, followed by a summer break before reconvening for the August retreat to prepare for the year ahead.

Students interested in learning more about SGA or the application process are encouraged to reach out to SGA Co-Advisor Ian Bushell at ijbushell@alaska.edu or connect with current student leaders Jonnie Myers (gcmyerssherwood@alaska.edu) or Tessa Davis (tbdavis5@alaska.edu).

Kodiak College encourages all students with a passion for leadership, service, and community to apply. Joining SGA is an opportunity not only to represent your peers, but to help shape the future of Kodiak College.
