Remembering Victoria Geyer
Victoria Geyer, Tutor and Adjunct Instructor since 2015 at Kodiak College (KoC), passed away on Sunday, April 10.
During her seven years at KoC, Victoria tutored, taught, and mentored students, making a significant impact on their learning and lives. Students loved her classes and often sought her out for assistance with their papers, projects, and homework in The Learning Center. Selida Guitron-Padilla said, “I have good memories of Victoria. She’d always go the extra mile. She always made sure I understood what I needed to understand. Victoria would say it a thousand different times, a thousand different ways so I could find success. She cared about her students. Victoria was not only a tutor, she was a friend and mentor.”

Victoria held a Bachelor in Music and Master of Music from Bowling Green State University, Ohio, and later earned a Master of Arts in Teaching at Wayne State in Detroit. She knew multiple languages and had a love of music that was felt by even those who didn’t know her well – string music often flowed from The Learning Center in-between helping students with their latest essays.
Along with college students, she taught and tutored numerous youth homeschool, music lessons, and more across the isle, as tutor colleague Robin Kiely shared, “She taught my kids music lessons. She was funny, kind, patient, generous, and authentic. They adored her.”
Many of us also knew Victoria from her crafts, crochets, and “jellies,” as she liked to call them, that she sold at local markets. And she could often be found at the East Addition dog park with her furry companion.
Victoria’s cheerful presence will be missed on campus and throughout the community.
