9 Reasons to Heart Kodiak College

Join the diverse, talented and budget savvy group of “Kodiak kids” who have chosen Kodiak College for their early undergraduate studies and have realized the following benefits:

  1. Lower cost – stretch your college savings and financial aid much farther and avoid or reduce loans! Tuition and fees are lower than four-year universities and there are opportunities for additional funding. Ask us about JumpStart tuition reduction for first time freshmen, campus based scholarships, and tuition waivers
  2. Qualified and interesting teachers – Classes are taught by engaged instructors with broad experience and advanced degrees. Many, of our instructors hold PhDs in their field.
  3. Small classes and individual attention – This allows you to be individually challenged or get extra support when needed.
  4. Plan for the future – Mandatory academic advising for first-time freshmen keeps you on track with your education plans. Our advisors can help you plan your degree at KoC or to transfer to a university at the right time for you, your goals, and your wallet!
  5. Free Student Coaching program – This optional program allows you to be mentored by someone at KoC by connecting weekly throughout the semester. Research shows that students who sign up for coaching do better in college
  6. Caring and helpful environment – The administration, faculty, and staff genuinely want to help you succeed. It’s a supportive, family atmosphere that provides a smooth transition to larger universities.
  7. Part of the University of Alaska system – Your transcript will come from the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA). Courses taken at KoC maintain the same content and outcomes as those at UAA.
  8. Support Kodiak – Love your town? Give back by spending some of your higher education dollars locally. This supports the local campus and its students, faculty, and staff who contribute to our vibrant community and economy
  9. Get involved – Opportunities include Student Government, Phi Theta Kappa, or even planning for study abroad! Have other ideas? We want to hear them!
