Alutiiq Studies and Student Support Project has established an Alutiiq Studies program
at Kodiak College. This 6-year project (Fall 2011- 2017) is developing new courses
in Alutiiq language and culture, most of which are available by distance delivery
In addition to new academic offerings, the project enhances the support network
available to Native students through advocacy, mentorship, and learning communities.
The campus is becoming more conducive to Alutiiq culture, through creation of culturally-relevant
signage, learning and gathering spaces, and training of faculty and staff in Alutiiq
culture and education issues.
