William is a native of California but has wandered around the country as a dental officer in the US Coast Guard, including two tours in Kodiak. He completed his BS in Biology-Chemistry from the University of the Pacific and also completed his DDS from the same institution. He later completed a residency in Periodontics from Loma Linda University (1987) and practiced as a clinical periodontist for many decades. He also graduated with an MS in Biology Education (2012) from Northeastern Oklahoma State University and a PhD in Craniofacial Biology (2020) from Texas A&M University.
He currently lives in Astoria, Oregon with his wife, Deborah who is an Art Instructor at Kodiak College. His hobbies include woodworking, Japanese language, hiking and boating.
