Education Abroad
Education Abroad Options for Students
Kodiak College students can participate in Education Abroad through UAA, which currently offers year long (Fall and Spring), single semester, and summer study abroad opportunities through international exchanges and multiple affiliate (third-party) partners.
Options are available in over 65 countries around the world!
- Want to study another language abroad? Go for it! Programming is available for both experienced and beginning language
learners. You do not have to know the language of the country you’re interested in
to study there. Most classes are taught in English.
- Want to go to an English-speaking country? You can do that, too. The old saying that study abroad is only for learning another
language is no longer true. We live in an interconnected world and employers value
global experiences of all types.
- International internships in a variety of fields are also available.
- Courses completed abroad can count toward your certificate or degree program.
- Students enrolled in any major, including those who are undeclared. Students can be
working toward any certificate, associate’s, or bachelor’s degree program.
- Any student who is 18 years of age, has completed 2 full semesters (24 credits total) at UAA, and meets the other minimum eligibility requirements.*
-
- Remember, Kodiak College students are UAA students. Credits students take at any UAA campus count.
- This means full-time students can study abroad as early as the summer after their first year at college.
- *Some programs or exchanges may have additional requirements.
- Costs vary greatly depending on a number of factors, including how long and where
you want to go. For example, big city programs tend to cost more than those in lower
population centers.
- Financial aid and scholarships can often help fund study abroad.
- Chat with an advisor and/or learn more by visiting the UAA Education Abroad Scholarships webpage.
Deadlines vary by program, but in general applications are typically due:
- October 1: Spring affiliate programs
- March 1: Summer, Fall, or year-long affiliate programs, and Exchange programs of any length
- April 1: Extended/late deadline for some programs.
Visit the UAA Education Abroad Options for Students page for the most up-to-date information, including deadlines and more about the differences between exchange and affiliate program opportunities.
