SGA Emergency Grant Program Open
SGA Launches Grant Program to Support Students
The Kodiak College Student Government Association (SGA) is proud to announce the launch of its new SGA Emergency Grant Program, designed to provide students with financial assistance for unforeseen expenses that may impact their ability to stay enrolled and succeed in their studies.
Recognizing that unexpected financial burdens—such as medical emergencies, car repairs, or housing instability—can create significant barriers for students, SGA has worked diligently throughout the year to establish a meaningful support system. This grant program is one of their key initiatives to ensure students have access to the resources they need during difficult times.
How It Works
The SGA Emergency Grant Program is open to all Kodiak College students taking at least one class at Kodiak College who are facing unexpected financial hardship. Students in need of assistance can apply directly by filling out a short application form. Faculty or staff members who are aware of a student struggling with unforeseen expenses are encouraged to share this information and the link to the form. The goal is to make the process as simple and accessible as possible so that students can receive timely support.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and grants will be awarded based on need and available funding. While the program is not designed to provide ongoing financial aid, it serves as a critical resource for students experiencing short-term financial difficulties.
A Year of Student-Centered Advocacy
The launch of the Emergency Grant Program highlights SGA’s commitment to student well-being. Throughout the year, SGA has prioritized meaningful student support, raising funds and advocating for resources that directly impact student success.
“The Emergency Grant is a reflection of our dedication to supporting Kodiak College students in real, tangible ways,” said an SGA representative. “We understand that life happens, and sometimes students just need a little help to stay on track. We’re proud to offer this program and hope it makes a difference in students' lives.”
