Ariane is a Maine-born Kodiakan, having grown up through our Kodiak schools, dance
studios, and Community Arts Council.
In 2007, Ariane received a Bachelors of Science from the University of Maine at Farmington,
specializing in early childhood education from birth to 5 years. She then dedicated
17 years to being an early educator in a variety of early education settings across
the coasts -beginning with RurAL CAP's Kodiak Head Start and finishing back on Kodiak
at USCG Base Kodiak's Child Development Center.
Ariane made a career change in 2018 to become a Kindergarten/First Grade looping teacher
with KIBSD and began to pursue her Alaska Teaching certification in Elementary Education,
in addition to a MAT in Elementary Education K-8 through UAS's MAT program. She continued
her postgraduate education and became a 2023/2024 cohort member for LEAF, receiving
a graduate certificate in Literacy and Language from UAA the summer of 2024.
Ariane is a mum of boys, a dancer and Tap instructor for NSDK, an artist, poet, and
passionate advocate for culturally nourishing pedagogy. You can often find her out
and about in the community with her beloved Ellie Moo at her side.
